Tipp City, Ohio (May 8, 2015)— With assistance from Energy Optimizers, USA, Mad River Local Schools recently received DRG3 Green Business Certification on three of its buildings.
The district received certification for Stebbins High School, a middle school and the transportation garage.
The certification is awarded by Dayton Regional Green 3 in recognition of organizations that take voluntary steps to protect, preserve and improve the environment. To qualify, organizations must complete an application that documents their efforts to reduce and recycle solid waste, make environmentally preferable purchases, conserve energy and water, and prevent pollution. Organizations must also complete an energy audit of their facilities.
“We have a reputation for taking a position of leadership when it comes to connecting our students with real-world learning opportunities,” said Superintendent Chad Wyen. “Our commitment to model sustainable practices teaches our students about both energy conservation and fiscal conservation. Every effort to reduce waste or improve energy efficiency results in savings to our bottom line. We are very proud to be recognized for these efforts with the DRG3 certification.”
Earlier this year, the district partnered with Energy Optimizers, USA on a Lighting Service Agreement for energy-efficient exterior LED lighting at Stebbins High School, Middle School, and the transportation garage. Energy Optimizers, USA also conducted an energy audit for the district prior to making recommendations for improvements.
“Helping school districts and government organizations conserve resources and educate their communities about energy management is at the core of what we do,” said Belinda Kenley, vice president of business development for Energy Optimizers, USA. “Through our partnership with Mad River Local Schools, we are helping the district improve its energy efficiency and receive recognition for all of its sustainability practices. The DRG3 certification is a level of recognition that students, staff and the entire community can take pride in.”
