5/25/2016 – OASBO’s chapter – Miami Valley School Business Officials (MVSBO) – along with chapter partner Energy Optimizers, USA, sponsored a 2-part food drive to help feed children enrolled in the Foodbank of Dayton’s Good-To-Go Back Pack and Kids Cafe programs, which provide weekend food for kids at risk of hunger.

Energy Optimizers, USA took the lead with the MVSBO chapter project, providing bright green co-branded collection bags distributed to the MVSBO members in March, and barrels to Northwestern Local Schools for a student collection.

MVSBO members filled the bags and brought them to the chapter’s Staff Appreciation breakfast on 5/13, where the Energy Optimizers team collected the donations and took them to the Food Bank of Dayton. That day, chapter members brought 1,095 pounds of food!

The second part of the effort was orchestrated by Dave Bollheimer on behalf of MVSBO. Treasurer of Northwestern Local Schools and OASBO Past President, Dave engaged students in his district in the effort, and using the barrels donated by Energy Optimizers, USA, the students collected 457 pounds of food! Amazing job by both the Junior/Senior High and Elementary for helping a great cause!

The total collection effort by the MVSBO chapter between these two activities yielded 1,552 pounds of food for the Food Bank of Dayton (which is 230 pounds of food more than last year). Many kids and their families will benefit from this enormous effort and we applaud all the members of MVSBO, Dave Bollheimer and Energy Optimizers, USA for their hard work!
